Longmoor Primary School

Lifelong Learners

Welcome

Higher Achievers

At Longmoor, we are passionate about providing an exciting curriculum, which encourages all our pupils to reach their full potential during their time with us. As part of this, we do our utmost to provide stimulating and challenging learning experiences in order to stretch our most able children.
This starts in the classroom, where expectations are high, and all work is differentiated fully to include sufficient challenge to motivate and inspire our higher achieving children. This might be through the development of Higher Order thinking skills, more independent learning tasks, more emphasis on investigation and problem solving, and collaborative learning with the local Secondary schools, to name just a few.
Running alongside this Quality First teaching, is further enrichment of the curriculum through termly opportunities to undertake independent projects, at home, such as designing and making a board game to incorporate particular operations, or keeping a Reading and Writing journal, based on favourite books.
We also give all our Higher Achieving pupils the opportunity to compete online in The World Education games, and represent our school in a national quiz competition.
Further enrichment is provided through sports clubs, dance opportunities, choir, and the chance to learn to play a musical instrument.

KS2 QUIZ CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP

Longmoor Primary School will be entering a quiz team again this year in the area heats of the quiz club championship. Mr Green's Quiz Club will take place weekly during lunchtime until February when a team will represent Longmoor at a very exciting event!

The quiz club members are the top four highest scorers from each cohort. They will compete against each other before Mr Green chooses the team to represent Longmoor - only one child per cohort can be chosen!
