Longmoor Primary School

Lifelong Learners

Welcome

Official opening of the EYFS Climbing Area,

The Big Build - A New Challenge for Children at Longmoor Primary School

Mrs Menzies (Headteacher) and Mrs Wilson (EYFS Lead Teacher) at Longmoor Primary School in Long Eaton applied for a

National Lottery Grant of £10 000, to build a climbing challenge for the school's Reception children.

Just before May half term the building began. The weather was beautiful and the installation went smoothly. The children watched with great anticipation, as the separate sections went up.

With the holiday over, the children couldn't wait to try the challenges.  All aspects of children's physical development start with them understanding their bodies. Jumping, running, balancing and climbing have to be mastered before the fine motor skills of writing and cutting. The children at Longmoor now have even more opportunity to master these skills.

What fun!

Mrs Menzies, Mrs Wilson and some of the children officially opened the climbing area, on the Queen's 90th birthday celebrations, on Friday 10th June.
