To Mr Roper's Oompa Loompas

Meet the Team

Welcome to Year 4-5's, The Oompa Loompas, class web page. My name is Mr Roper and I am extremely looking forward to another year at Longmoor. I can't believe that this is now my forth year here; time flies when you're having fun! I'm really excited about this year as we have some fantastic topics lined up, including the The Roman invasion of Britain, Crime and Punishment, The Titanic, and a local study on the Derby . In Science, we will be learning about Sound, the Digestive System and Plants and Animals that thrive in our local area. We will also be having themed weeks where we will study Electricity and State of Matter.

How to support your child at home!

Writing - Below are examples of what your child need to be able to show within their writing to be meeting their year group's expectations.

Reading - To help support your child's reading development, below are some useful documents with different questions types to boost their comprehension skills. Please read as often as possible. When they read five times to an adult at home or school they move around our reading challenge and receive a prize! The more they read, the more they learn!

Supporting your child at home with Numeracy.

You child has their Mathletics and TTRockstars usernames and passwords stuck in the front cover of their reading record.

Homework - Literacy, which is the Nando's themed challenges, go out every Tuesday and due in the following Friday. Numeracy is handed out on Thursdays to be handed in on the following Monday. Numeracy Homework is often set challenges on Mathletics. If you can't access this at home let me know.

WHISPER - Anonymous Reporting Tool

Sometimes it is really hard to tell an adult if you feel like you are being bullied. That is why we have subscribed to WHISPER. It is an anonymous reporting tool which allows you or your child to report any incidents of bullying and cyber bullying in confidence.

Click on the web link below to fill in a report. It will then be emailed to Miss Hughes (Online Safety Coordinator). Messages are checked as often as possible. In order to resolve issues effectively and promptly, please include your name. This will be kept in the strictest of confidence.

If you have any concerns or worries about your child regarding online safety and would like further advice, please contact Miss Hughes or Mr Lyons, the school's online safety co-ordinators or speak to Mrs Dainty, Headteacher.
