Equality Objectives
Our Equality Objectives for 2025-2026 are:
Objective 1
To ensure enrichment and extracurricular opportunities are accessible to all pupils, including those with SEND, EAL and disadvantaged pupils, to increase their confidence as learners, develop life skills and improve independence by:
- Ensuring equality is a key consideration when arranging school visits and school-based activities.
- Taking all possible measures to reduce barriers to pupils engagement through detailed planning and risk assessments.
- Providing a broad and balanced range of clubs and experiences for all pupils.
- Monitoring the involvement of identified groups of pupils in extracurricular activities.
Objective 2
To ensure Longmoor Primary promotes and raises awareness of diversity (race, religion and gender) within the school community by:
- Promoting equality with regard to race, gender, disability, religion and ethnicity through the school curriculum and assemblies.
- Monitoring and evaluating pupil attitudes and behaviour around diversity and equality and take appropriate action where this falls below school expectations of tolerance and empathy to all.
Objective 3
To recognise that communication is not only through spoken language by:
- Promoting a variety of forms of communication amongst staff, pupils and parents.
- Training staff, pupils and parents in Makaton to support pupils who are non-verbal, have speech and language difficulties or who are unable to communicate due to a heightened state of emotion.
Objective 4
To explore the reasons for lower attendance data for disadvantaged, EAL and SEND pupils and begin to improve attendance levels for these identified groups of pupils by:
- Monthly monitoring of attendance data for identified groups of pupils.
- Communicating attendance expectations to all parents.
- Arranging support where possible for families of identified pupils.
