Parking

We appreciate that many of you have to get to work as soon as you have dropped off children at school, but we are having lots of complaints from local residents and other parents about dangerous and thoughtless parking around school.  This includes parking on double yellow lines, the yellow zig-zag lines outside school, across local residents' drives and on the corners of junctions.

There was sadly, some years ago, a child knocked down outside school, and we really want to avoid this happening again.  Please be courteous and careful when parking around school and think carefully about how and where you park.  We really do appreciate your support.

Just to highlight the importance of considerate and legal parking:

It is illegal to stop or park on yellow zigzag lines, keep-clear markings, or in front of school entrances during hours posted on signs, usually 8–9 am and 3–4:30 pm. Violations can result in a £130 penalty charge notice (or £65 if paid within 14 days), with potential to be towed, costing over £200.

Key Road Rules for School Parking:

  • Yellow Zigzags: Marked with white/yellow signs indicating when stopping is strictly prohibited. You cannot drop off or pick up passengers here during these times.
  • Highway Code Rule 243: Do not park near a school entrance, near a bus stop, opposite a junction (or within 10 meters), or over a dropped kerb
