Welcome to Mr Lyons'

Welcome to the team

Mr Lyons - Class Teacher              Mr Taylor - Teaching Assistant

Welcome to Mr Lyons' Sharks class page. I am delighted to welcome children back to school again and I am excited for the year ahead. For the children they are now the oldest infants and they will have to work hard. Yet I know they are ready to challenge themselves to be the best that they can be as Year 2's. Myself and Mr Taylor will be here to make sure children are happy and settled back into school life. smiley

Our PE days are on Monday and Thursday. Please ensure that children have their indoor and outdoor PE kits in school on these days, and that they have any earrings removed. Homework will be given out on Thursday and must be returned by Tuesday. Thank you.

Year 2 SATs

At the end of Year 2 children will be undertaking SATs tests within school. Although these are statutory tests children will be reassured that it is just a chance to show what they know and to try their best, not something to worry over.

This link provides an overview for parents about what the 2019 SATs covered:

Reading Challenge

The class are all completing their reading challenge. Every time they read 10 times with an adult they move around the kestrel reading challenge. When they reach 40 reads they can choose a brand new book to keep from Mrs Dainty!

A list of example questions can be found below which help to greater develop children's understanding when reading.

WHISPER - Anonymous Reporting Tool

Sometimes it is really hard to tell an adult if you feel like you are being bullied. That is why we have subscribed to WHISPER. It is an anonymous reporting tool which allows you or your child to report any incidents of bullying and cyber bullying in confidence.

Click on the web link below to fill in a report. It will then be emailed to Miss Hughes (Online Safety Coordinator). Messages are checked as often as possible. In order to resolve issues effectively and promptly, please include your name. This will be kept in the strictest of confidence.

If you have any concerns or worries about your child regarding online safety and would like further advice, please contact Miss Hughes or Mr Lyons, the school's online safety co-ordinators or speak to Mrs Dainty, Headteacher.
