SPELLINGS - Each week, the children will be taught a new spelling rule. The spelling lists will be handed out on the Monday and tested on the following Friday. There will be no spellings during Assessment weeks. We are following the 'Spelling Shed' scheme. Your child will be able to log on to the website and complete activities and games designed to help them learn their weekly spelling list and the National Curriculum Statutory Words. The weekly spelling list will be posted on here (below) and on 'Spelling Shed'. Please help and encourage your child to learn their spellings.

How to support your child at home!

Writing - Below are examples of what your child needs to be able to show within their writing in order to meet the year 4 expectations.

Reading – Here are some useful documents with different questions types to help support your child's reading development and boost their comprehension skills. Please read as often as possible. When they read five times to an adult at home or in school they move around our reading challenge and receive a prize! The more they read, the more they learn!

Numeracy - You child has their Mathletics and TTRockstars usernames and passwords stuck in the front cover of their reading record. Mathletics challenges will also be set that are linked to what we are doing in class.

Homework - Homework will be set every Tuesday and expected to be completed by the following Monday. Literacy is the Nando's themed challenges. Numeracy will be 'Mathletics' Challenges. Please let me know if you can't access this at home.

WHISPER - Anonymous Reporting Tool

Sometimes it is really hard to tell an adult if you feel like you are being bullied. That is why we have subscribed to WHISPER. It is an anonymous reporting tool which allows you or your child to report any incidents of bullying and cyber bullying in confidence.

Click on the web link below to fill in a report. It will then be emailed to Miss Hughes (Online Safety Coordinator). Messages are checked as often as possible. In order to resolve issues effectively and promptly, please include your name. This will be kept in the strictest of confidence.

If you have any concerns or worries about your child regarding online safety and would like further advice, please contact Miss Hughes or Mr Lyons, the school's online safety co-ordinators or speak to Mrs Dainty, Headteacher.
