Read Write Inc
Since we introduced Read Write Inc, our children’s reading and phonic skills have improved enormously. The scheme is fast paced, fun and encourages plenty of participation by the children.
Sounds and letters are practised every day and children are taught to use their ‘fred fingers’ to spell and sound out words. They also learn tricky ‘red’ words which do not follow a spelling pattern, e.g. your, there, come.
Stories and rhymes are used to develop reading and comprehension skills.
There are specific writing tasks too which encourage children to use the vocabulary, sentence structures and ideas developed during the week.
