  • Miss Marshall's Long Service Presentation

    Sun 13 May 2012

    HONOUR FOR LONG-SERVING GOVERNOR
LONG-serving governor Joyce Marshall has been honoured for her dedication to Derbyshire schools.
For the past 40 years Joyce has been a governor at Longmoor Primary School in Long Eaton – serving for 30 years as chair.
The magistrate and former borough councillor has also been a governor at four other schools in the town - Long Eaton, Wilsthorpe, Parklands, Harrington and Highfields.
Now Derbyshire County Council’s Cabinet Member for Education Councillor Mike Longden has presented her with a certificate during a special assembly at Longmoor.

Councillor Longden said: “Joyce is a true community champion and I’m delighted to be able to honour her years of dedication and commitment to our schools.
“Being a governor is entirely voluntary and she has willingly devoted her time to making sure young people get the education they deserve.
“I’d like to take this opportunity to thank Joyce and all our other governors for their hard work.”

DEDICATED SERVICE: Councillor Longden presents Joyce Marshall with her certificate watched by Longmoor Primary school pupils Katie Daykin, 11, and Isaac Brooks, nine.

  • Tree Planting

    Sun 13 May 2012
On Saturday March 24th we planted 60 trees for the Diamond Jubilee Woodland Project.
Lots of families came along and planted a tree each.
The details have been sent to the Woodland Project. At the end of the year The Queen will receive a book with a record of where all of the trees have been planted in the country.
They are aiming to plant 6,000,000 trees in 2012.
Amazing and we here at Longmoor have been involved.
    Well done everyone!
