  • Super 6s Tag Rugby at Harrington

Thu 24 Nov 2016 Mr Bunhejee

On a cold and windy Thursday afternoon Mr Bunhejee, Mrs Kirk and Mrs Turner took an eager team of Year 5 and 6’s to the tag rugby tournament at Harrington. Three teams attended as we played two very competitive games. In our first game we lost 7:5 against Grange as we found our feet in the difficult conditions. Our final game was against Harrington who beat us 6:5 with a last minute try. The team were fantastic and played some excellent tag rugby in their first competition of the year. I can’t wait for the next competition in March. Congratulations must go to Amelia, Max, Jamie, Javelle, Lily and Megan from year 6 and Kairell, Callum-Deo and Lawrence from Year 5. Thank you to Jamie’s mum who braved the cold to support the team and Javelle’s dad who came to see the end of our final game.

  • Year 5/6 Futsal Winners at Long Eaton School

Thu 10 Nov 2016 Mr Bunhejee

Mr Bunhejee and Miss Mills took the Y5/6 Futsal team to Long Eaton School for an Erewash School Sports Partnership competition on Thursday 10th November. Joshua and Louis from Year 6 and Ruben, Daniel, Ashton, Kairell and Lawrence from Year 5 represented Longmoor fantastically in 5 close matches against Harrington, Grange, Shardlow and two teams from Dovedale. Our first match was against Grange who we beat 2:1 with two goals from Louis. Our second match was against Dovedale A who beat us narrowly 1:0. Our third game was against Harrington and we failed to take our chances despite playing really well. We didn’t think we had a chance of winning now but went into our fourth game against Dovedale B with confidence scoring three quick goals thanks to Louis, Kairell and Joshua in a 3:1 win. The last match of the tournament was against Shardlow who we beat 5:0 thanks to a goal from Joshua and four from Louis. We all gathered round to find out the final placings. Shardlow were given the fair play award. To our surprise we were one of three teams all with the same number of points. This meant the final placings would be decided on goal difference between Harrington, Dovedale A and Longmoor. Harrington were given 3rd place and thanks to our five goals in the last game we were declared as winners!! Congratulations and well played. The quality of the football was terrific. A big thank you to all the parents who came along to support the team and stayed right till the end to see Louis, our captain, collect the winners’ trophy!

  • Futsal Competition at Long Eaton School

Wed 02 Nov 2016 Mr Bunhejee

Mr Bunhejee and Mrs Wenham took seven eager year 4 children to Long Eaton School on Wednesday 2nd November for a 5 aside Futsal competition. Unfortunately, the matches had to be played outside on the astro turf as a 7 aside competition. It was very competitive with 3 other teams turning up for the tournament. Archie, Logan, Oliver, Jaydan, Jonah, Dylan (c) and Tommy all represented the school with pride and passion. We won our first game 2:0 against Sawley with an OG and a goal from Jonah. In the second game we drew 1:1 with Shardlow thanks to an equaliser from Jonah. This meant we had a chance of winning the tournament if we could win our final game against Ockbrook. After a highly competitive game, neither team could force a winner and the game ended 0:0. This meant Longmoor finished as runners up to Ockbrook. A big thank you to all the parents and relatives, who came to support the team.
