  • Longmoor Christmas Dinner

    Thu 17 Dec 2015 J.Menzies

    Longmoor Christmas Dinner.

On Wednesday 16th December Mrs Chambers and the kitchen staff cooked 250 delicious Christmas dinners.

Mrs Chambers and her staff, the MDS and several of the teachers wore silly hats and antlers. It has to be said that Mrs Chambers 'turkey head' won first prize.

There was a delightful atmosphere in the hall with the tables decorated and Michael Buble singing in the background.

The children and staff thoroughly enjoyed their lunch and a huge thank you goes to Mrs Chambers and her team.

We gave them all three cheers for their hard work.

  • Enterprise Event - Longmoor Christmas Market.

Mon 07 Dec 2015 Miss Smith

    Business and Enterprise 2015

Business and Enterprise was at its finest on Friday 4th December at Longmoor! Together with Miss Smith, our budding entrepreneurs planned, created and managed another wonderful Christmas event to raise money for Footprints Orphanage.

Back in November a group of year 6 pupils didn’t realise the talent and skills they had for this opportunity. They became ‘The Business and Enterprise Team.’

Through lunchtime meetings, the group organised the experience for the whole school, which involved delegating classes to a Business and Enterprise Team member, liaising and communicating with class teachers and setting up on the day. They produced a range of posters to promote the event and showed a can-do attitude and the drive to make their ideas happen.

    The result?

A fantastic and successful Business and Enterprise Christmas fair, where the team ran the stalls with other children from Longmoor, showed initiative when helping with the younger pupils and managed the money sensibly.

A fun, rewarding afternoon for our hardworking team and the rest of Longmoor!

  • Modeshift Stars Bronze Award.

Wed 02 Dec 2015 Mrs Kirk

We have achieved the Modeshift Stars Bronze Award.

We are delighted to have received the national Modeshift Sustainable Travel Accreditation and Recognition award (STARS) to recognise everybody’s efforts to choose more sustainable and healthier ways of getting to and from school.

The award was presented to us by Rob Bounds (Derbyshire Senior Transport Officer) at our assembly on Friday, 27th November. Rob presented a short assembly promoting sustainable ways of travelling to school with the help of six members of staff, who stressed the importance of staying safe and being seen by wearing/carrying reflective clothing. He then presented the award to our Eco Committee.

We will continue to work very hard to make the roads outside our school safer and promote travelling to school in a more sustainable way.

This year we will again be providing Bikeability training for our Y6 children and Scooter Smart training for our Foundation Stage 2 children. Last year we introduced more advanced scooter training for our year 3 children, with the help of PCSO Duggan and Constable Rockley and Rob Bounds and this will continue again this year.

We would like to thank you for your continuing support in helping to keep our pupils’ journeys to and from school safer.

  • Super 6’s Tag Rugby at Harrington

Tue 01 Dec 2015 Mr Bunhejee

Super 6’s Tag Rugby at Harrington 26.11.15

On a cold and muddy Thursday afternoon Mr Bunhejee took his eager team of Year 5 and 6’s to the tag rugby tournament at Harrington. Five teams attended as we played four really close games.

First up was English Martyrs who beat us 2:1, then came Grange who won 3:1. After a short break, we then lost 4:3 to Firfield. In our final game we lost 3:2 to Harrington, all really close and competitive games.

Well done to Abigail, Ben, Judah, Madison, Harry and Max from Year 6 and Amelia, Holly and Jaime in Year 5. The team were fantastic and played some excellent tag rugby. I can’t wait for the next competition.

Special mention to Abigail who scored 4 tries including 3 in one match.

A big thank you to Mr Fitch for helping with transportation and providing a pair of emergency replacement trainers, and Miss Smith who came to support the team.
