    English Martyrs Tag Rugby Tournament

Well done to Daisy Mai, Catherine, Jacob, Jack, Joel, Raj, Tyler, Lewis, Taylor  and Michal from year 6, they all represented Longmoor School fantastically at the local tag rugby tournament on Thursday 11th December at English Martyrs. The team finished runners up after losing in the final. In their first game they lost 3:0 to English Martyrs, they drew 1:1 with Harrington in their second game and beat Firfield 5:2 in their final group game. This meant they played in the final against English Martyrs courtesy of having scored more tries than Harrington. In their first tag rugby tournament they played brilliantly and grew in confidence with each game. Thank you to parents who came along to support the team.

  • Green Flag Award Winners

    Sun 14 Dec 2014 J Menzies

After a whole morning meeting with the ECO School's Assessor, Mrs Roberts and the ECO Committee were thrilled to discover that here at Longmoor we have been awarded the ECO School Status for a further two years.

Mr Dilks has also become heavily involved helping the committee to monitor the use of energy in school. At the present time he is researching the possibility of us installing solar panels on the school roof. What better way to learn about resources than trialling and monitoring them at school. Watch this space.

We would dearly like to fly our Green Flag and if anyone has a contact out there that could get us a flag pole, we would be grateful.

Well done to everyone for being passionate about our environment.

  • Longmoor Christmas Market.

    Sun 07 Dec 2014 J Menzies

    Longmoor Christmas Market.

Run by our children - for children in Kenya.

Forest E Witcraft wrote, ' a hundred years from now it will not matter what my bank account was, the sort of house I lived in, or the kind of car I drove..... but the world may be different because I was important in the life of a child.' Here at Longmoor our children understand that they can help.

Every class made Christmas decorations, biscuits, sweet treats and 'Stop Here Santa' signs. There were also games to play with prizes to win.

The children from the Enterprise Group helped Miss Smith organise the afternoon.

It was fantastic fun and has raised money to help support The Footprints Orphanage out in Kenya.

Watch this space for what the total raised is. I wonder what Footprints will use our donation for in 2015!

  • Jo Jackson's Visit to Longmoor.

    Sun 07 Dec 2014 J Menzies

On Wednesday 26th November Jo Jackson, Olympic swimmer visited our school.

Sports for Schools events are a fun, educational and inspiring way to raise funds for the school's PE equipment, and support athletes in general.

In fact many elite athletes were themselves inspired to take up their discipline by just such a visit from a top sportsperson, as a child.

Jo Jackson has represented Great Britain at the Olympic Games, Commonwealth Games, World and European Championships.

Jo ran a challenge in school. All of the children completed a fitness circuit, which would make up part of the training regime used by athletes to keep up their fitness levels.

The event was sponsored and Longmoor Primary School raised an amazing 3725.50.

    Well done to everyone.

You never know perhaps one day we will have a past pupil representing our country.
